No-shows down 73% in one salon group
Studio Nineteen
Empty chairs were costing four figures a week. Deposits and automated waitlists fixed it.
- −73%no-shows
- 62%of bookings out of hours
- +34%retail attachment
The challenge
Bookings were taken by phone, often while a stylist had their hands in someone's hair. Colour formulas and patch-test records lived on index cards. No-shows cost several hundred pounds a week and nothing was done about them because nothing could be.
What we built
Online booking with real-time stylist availability, card deposits held at booking under the salon's own cancellation rules, and a waitlist that offers cancelled slots automatically to clients who wanted them.
Client cards now carry formulas, patch tests, allergies and before/after photos.
The outcome
No-shows fell 73%. Sixty-two percent of bookings now happen outside opening hours. Retail attachment rose 34% once product recommendations were recorded on the client card.
No-shows were costing us the better part of a grand a week. Deposits fixed it in a fortnight. I should have done it five years ago.
